Green tea is made from the leaves of the plant Camellia Sinensis.
Once plucked the unfermented leaf is withered for a few hours before being rolled and then immediately baked to halt any oxidisation from occuring.
Because green tea is less fermented than other teas i.e. black, oolong it contains a higher concentration of antioxidants called polyphenols and the lower caffeine content in comparison.
This tea is renowned for its many health benefits and cancer fighting properties.
Evidence from medical studies taken over recent decades show that regularly drinking green tea can lower the chance of both heart disease and help to lower cholesterol levels.
Along with a healthy eating and exercise programme green tea can also be beneficial for weight loss because of its high content on polyphenols.
